Memmingen – A 53-year-old is suspected of having sold stolen electronic modules for a profit.

The man is said to have pocketed sales of more than one million euros.

This is reported by the Kripo Memmingen, which has searched several apartments in this context.

A damaged company from the district of Unterallgäu had informed the police that the 53-year-old was selling stolen electronic modules.

The man had once been employed there and had repeatedly stolen electronic components from the company and then sold them – criminal proceedings were already underway, which ended in a final conviction, as the police now report.

The 53-year-old does not seem to have learned anything from his mistakes from back then: according to the police, there was again the suspicion of "the extensive sale of stolen goods and thus commercial stolen goods", which is why the Memmingen Criminal Police Office under the direction of the Memmingen public prosecutor carried out extensive investigations.

In a lengthy process, the officials found out that the accused was selling stolen goods profitably across Germany via the Internet.

He also peddled electronic control modules online to companies abroad.

The alleged fence was able to generate sales of over one million euros in the period from May 2021 to February 2023.

Because the investigations confirmed the suspicion against the suspect, the district court in Memmingen issued a search warrant at the request of the public prosecutor's office and an arrest warrant against the suspect.

In addition, according to the police, an asset arrest in the amount of the income from the sale of the stolen goods could be obtained.

During a house search on February 8, officers confiscated several thousand electronic parts from different manufacturers in the suspect's basement.

They also secured further evidence that is now to be evaluated.

At the same time, the investigators searched the apartment of another suspect who had apparently sold stolen electronic modules to the 53-year-old.

"He allegedly stole this from his employer and handed it over to the main suspect at personal meetings," explains a spokesman for the police.

As part of the investigation, the officials also identified two other suspects in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, who had also stolen from their employers and sold electronic modules to the 53-year-old.

Their homes were also searched – also with success.

How many companies were actually damaged is currently still the subject of investigations.
