Several associations, including the League for Human Rights and the Syndicate of the Judiciary, had last week formed a freedom summary with the Council of State about the individual identification number of the police, the RIO .
These organizations maintained that the phenomenon of non-wearing of this number was
“massive”
and that this failure made
“difficult or impossible the identification of those of these officers who would have reprehensible behavior or would use disproportionate force within the framework law enforcement operations”
.
The associations also noted a supposed failure of the State, which would not require its police and gendarmes to wear the RIO.
Admittedly, with supporting evidence – in this case photos and video recordings submitted to the hearing on Monday – the Supreme Administrative Court was able to note the absence of RIO on many law enforcement uniforms.
