TSV Böbrach made history as the worst football team in Bavaria – now in the red.

The association could “no longer be solvent” by the end of October.

Böbrach – There were TSV Böbrach games that sometimes ended 0:27.

The Bavarian club made the headlines – the media continue to call it “Bavaria’s worst football team” to this day.

"At some point," says club chairman Dennis Günthel to our editorial team, "the media inquiries" became fewer.

The hype surrounding the club from the district of Regen began to fade – TSV is now “financially ailing”.

The invoices from the accounting department point to an uncertain future: "It could be tight," says Günthel.

The football club, which got back on its feet even after the heaviest defeats, could “no longer be solvent” by the end of October.

TSV Böbrach: How an amateur soccer team from Bavaria triggered a nationwide hype

National media were also interested in the football club TSV Böbrach.

Summer 2021: An unusually large number of spectators occupy the stands.

According to the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

, an energy drink brand became aware of the association and sought cooperation.

Even if the results were reason enough, most of the spectators didn't make fun of the club.

The Bavarian A-Classist would never have given up - according to Günthel, it was precisely this morality that so many people admired at the club founded in 1980.

The hype was real, but it "didn't save the club in 2021," says Florian Berger, the club's treasurer.

And yet they were there, the many spectators, jersey sales and sponsor deals.

The club, which according to

Focus Online

sometimes had to reactivate former youth players after years of abstinence from football - the TSV, where the 58-year-old coach had to help out as a player because players and young people were missing: in 2021 everyone in Bavarian amateur football probably knew him Club from Boebrach.

After the hype comes reality: TSV Böbrach is not just missing the income

Players outside the community with around 1,600 residents now wanted to wear the jersey.

"Looking back, I have to say the hype surrounding the club was a good thing," Berger tells us.

After the media interest in the club from the Bavarian Forest dwindled, the fundamental problems reappeared: little money, little identification.

The club says that at least 17,000 euros are needed in the football struggle for survival.

A broken relationship between the community and the association should further reinforce the differences in Böbrach.

"Half of the team thought it was good - for the others it was too much," says Günthel about the hype at TSV Böbrach.

"Not everyone wanted so much publicity for the title of

Bayern's worst team,"

confirms Florian Berger.

The overall situation: media hype that has since passed, lack of sporting success and an “escalating dispute” behind closed doors – in May 2022 the board finally changed.

"If we get that far": TSV Böbrach hopes for donations and support from the village

Spring 2023: The games of TSV Böbrach end with 1: 6 or 0: 6.

Sometimes they win 3:2 - but it is more likely that they lose 0:17 like against Rattenbach.

After 14 match days (as of April 6, 2023), Böbrach is bottom of the A-Class table.

The goal difference: 8 to 128. At first glance, not much has changed at the Kampfbahn Jahnstraße – as the Böbrach stadium is called.

Calm has returned medial, at the same time it could not be more stormy.

Not the media interest – there would be a lack of support from the village.

"They come from everywhere": According to Günthel, it was difficult for the village to accept that the new board would not come from the region.

Club celebrations and fundraisers take place in the village to calm the waves.

But these events would not go really well.

TSV Böbrach has recorded a loss of members – according to the club, by April 2023 there will already be around 60.

Those responsible for the club know that insolvency proceedings can only be averted with support from the community.

The board around Dennis Günthel therefore wants to "show more presence" in the village, collect donations (a crowdfunding campaign is currently running) and thus stabilize the association again.

Also in the course of self-organized football tournaments one hopes for support from the community.

In summer and winter, these could take place in Böbrach.

"If we get that far."

According to Günthel, it is still questionable whether the income will be sufficient by then.
