Laguna de Rocha is in Esteban Echeverría, 33 kilometers from the Capital and 11 from Ezeiza Airport. They set up walkways and a plaza within the 640-hectare protected area.

The Paseo

Laguna de Rocha

is already a reality.

With the aim of "opening" one of the main green lungs of the region to the residents and promoting greater care for the environment, this Sunday the first section of walkways that enter the wetland was inaugurated and will allow activities to be carried out so that the people to learn more about the animal and plant species that live there.

With regard to the celebrations for the

110 years of Esteban Echeverría,

the operation of these trails began, which will allow all visitors to travel one kilometer until they reach the area near the wetland.

The route has rest areas, games and a viewpoint, and bathrooms that will work with energy captured through solar panels.

In this way, it will seek to propose a natural and sustainable outlet that is, at the same time, a window to know the species that inhabit the reserve.

The exhibition of Historical Images of the District of Esteban Echeverría, in the center of activities of the brand new promenade.

It is the most important green space in the

Matanza-Riachuelo Basin

and is made up of a set of water mirrors, grasslands and forests in a territory that covers more than 1,400 hectares of which 640 are protected by Law 14,488, sanctioned on December 13, 2013.

It is located in Echeverría, limited by the Ricchieri Highway, Av. Fair, and Transradio, approximately 11 kilometers from the Ezeiza International Airport and 33 from the Federal Capital.

On Sunday, during the launch of this route, Mayor Fernando Gray unveiled a plaque that reads "

Sendero Los Talas",

the first of the series of footbridges that will make up a path for the reserve.

"It is a joy to inaugurate the first section of the circuit that will allow the realization of educational, social and cultural activities for the entire community," said the community chief, together with the Secretary of Government Valeria Bellizi and the Secretary of Public Works Cristian Carnicer.

Fernando Gray, mayor of Esteban Echeverría, walking the catwalks.

They explained that it is a work done so far with municipal funds, but they expect the support of the Government of the Province to finish the circuit.

This first section also includes the enhancement of

Plaza Los Horneros

, where they built a semi-covered educational activities center with a large curved roof.

In turn, at the inauguration of the trail,

the Exhibition of Historical Images of the District was also launched

in the activity center, with collections belonging to the La Campana Municipal Historical Museum, the National Historical Archive and the Orlando Stella photographic archive.

Within the Reserve you can see almost all the autochthonous species of the Northeast region of Buenos Aires, although although their populations are low today -due to the abandonment and invasion of invasive species that it has suffered for many years- it is believed that when it is released the Reserve of said species, the flora and its typical fauna will be able to be seen in its fullness again.

At the same event, the exterior lighting of Pavilion II of the Hogar Escuela Evita was inaugurated.

The construction and opening of a promenade seems to be the first step to begin to definitively recover for public use a space that for many years was the focus of tensions and disputes, mainly related to the Racing Club de Avellaneda project -endorsed

by

successive provincial government administrations - to build a high-performance center in a sector of the protected area.

After many years of twists and turns and a lot of resistance from environmental groups in the area, it was not until the end of 2022 that this conflict was considered closed, with the transfer of the provincial State to Racing of a piece of land in Ezeiza, next to the property of the Association of Argentine Soccer, so that he could move his project there.

Finally, after many twists and turns, on December 28, 2022, the club announced that it had signed an agreement with the AABE (State Assets Administration Agency), which granted it, free of charge, a 34-hectare plot. Located in Ezeiza, at km 24,100 of the Gral. Riccheri Highway.

With this agreement, the controversies that lasted for more than ten years were put to an end.
