A little over a month ago, the posts that Julia Wendell made on her Instagram account revolutionized the media and public opinion.
It is that she published that she believed to be Madeleine McCann and that
she had proof of it
.
The 21-year-old Polish girl claimed to have a
mole on her leg
and a
spot on her eye
similar to those of the little girl who disappeared in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007;
as well as sharing certain traits and gestures with her family.
Julia Wendell shocked the world by saying she had proof that she was Madeleine McCann.
However, despite the fact that Julia claimed to have no memories or documents of her childhood, her parents immediately denied the version she was giving and confirmed that she was
only looking to be famous
.
Meanwhile, since the complaint was made known and it was learned that the DNA that the young woman had carried out was negative,
Kate and Gerry McCann
maintained a silence that they only broke a few days ago through a spokesperson.
The couple posted a
statement responding to a follower's question on their
"Find Maddie"
Facebook account
.
“There is nothing to report at this time. If there is, and when there is, it will come from the Metropolitan Police
," they responded to a follower's comment.
Now, it was Julia
herself
who
sent a message to them
.
She tried to be an apology, but there is a fact that caught the attention of her followers a lot.
Julia Wendell's (false) apology to Madeleine McCann's parents
"It was not my intention to bring sadness or any other negative emotion to anyone, especially the McCann family
," the young woman said in the
17-page statement that she posted on her social networks
on Tuesday night, April 11.
Despite her various
posts on social media
(in the account
@iammadeleinemccann
) and even an appearance on the famous
US
TV show Dr Phil, Julia now maintains that
she never actually claimed to be the missing girl
, but only raised the possibility that it could be,
The New York Post
reported .
Kate and Gerry McCann kept quiet until the DNA result was known.

"I don't remember most of my past, but I can remember some things and I never said that I am Madeleine McCann
," he explained.
And he added:
"I used this phrase to create a name for my old Instagram account, it was my mistake, I know it and I apologize for that, because I should have used [the] words 'Am I Madeleine McCann?'
not 'I am'... So it was my fault and I didn't mean to bring sadness or any other negative emotion to anyone, especially the McCann family."
In this context, he also stressed that his main objective was always to discover who he was and what exactly happened in my painful past in order to
know his true identity
.
Even so, in another part of her statement,
Julia insisted that there is still a possibility that she is the missing girl
despite the results of the DNA test, the outlet noted.
"I still think there's a chance that I could be Madeleine," she surprisingly declared.
Julia Wendell insists she is Madeleine despite the DNA result.
A fundraising campaign
When the DNA result was known, Julia was totally disappointed: she had tested negative.
The analysis confirmed that she is not the missing girl, but rather shows that she is
Polish
and that she has some
Lithuanian and Romanian heritage
.
At that point,
the Daily Star
reported , the young woman returned to Poland.
But evidently things are not going well for her as she is using a fundraising platform on her Instagram in order to settle down and move on with her life.
