The case against the policemen who shot a young man from a cave suspected of carrying out an attack on the Temple Mount was closed - voila! news

State Attorney Amit Isman stated today (Thursday) that the police officers who shot the suspect in carrying out an attack on the Temple Mount about two weeks ago, Muhammad Khaled al-Atzibi, acted lawfully.

In his decision, the State Attorney adopted the recommendation of the Department of Police Investigations and the Deputy State Attorney for Criminal Matters to end the investigation procedure regarding the police officers involved in the shooting incident on the Temple Mount two weeks ago, due to the absence of a crime.

The incident took place about two weeks ago, when Al-Atzibi was detained for examination by police officers stationed in the area of the Chain Gate in the Old City.

According to the police, during the inspection, al-Atzibi attacked one of the fighters who was staying there and tried to snatch his weapon from his hands.

According to the suspicion, he managed to shoot using one of the guns he had stolen, and the fighters began to struggle with him until he was shot.

Medical forces who were called to the scene performed CPR on him until finally - they had to pronounce him dead.

The police officers reported that they did not have enough time to activate the body cameras and a police investigation revealed that the incident took place in a "dead area", which is not covered by any security cameras.

The state attorney's announcement states that "the summary of the investigation at the police station led to the conclusion that the evidence collected supports the police officers' version of the incident, that they acted lawfully in self-defense, and that there is clear, direct and solid evidence that no offense was committed."

The family of the suspected terrorist, a 26-year-old man from the Bedouin settlement of Hora in the Negev, refuses to believe the police's claims that the young man stole the weapon from the police and shot them.

His family told him that he "was a normal child, a medical student from Romania who came to renew his visa in Israel."

"He is not a terrorist. We are a normal family and we are against violence. We feel that we are under attack. If there is a suspicion that the child has done something, distribute videos, every police officer has a camera on him. Every moment that the videos are not published, the level of credibility of the police decreases. We are calling for an investigative committee." called his relative.
