Neubiberg has a roof dilemma

The costs for the renovation and expansion of the town hall in Neubiberg will exceed the 23 million euro hurdle.

This bad news has now been announced in the municipal council, just a few days after the cornerstone was laid.

Neubiberg - The roofs of both the existing building and the new building are to blame.

The reason: More than 428,000 euros more than the good 890,000 euros once estimated by the municipal administration and the experts and thus more than 1.31 million euros must be raised for the three roof trades according to the current situation.

In addition to the roofing work on the old town hall and the new building, there was also the sealing work on the flat roof.

Because there are no real alternatives in the tightly knit cost and deadline corset, the decision to approve the increase in costs was, as expected, unanimous.

"It's not a really nice topic, mainly due to the increase in costs over the past few years and inflation," said Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU).

In particular, the award of the gable roof, with a cost increase of over 351,000 euros for old and new buildings, caused many concerns.

Also because in the end only one bidder applied for the contract.

The head of the town hall saw no alternative if the schedule was somehow to be met.

In addition, the acceleration program decided in advance by the municipal council and costing a good 80,000 euros would be thwarted by the announced final construction at the end of 2024 if a new tender was issued now.

Further increases in costs would then “inevitably threaten”.

Quite apart from the costly consequences if the current bidder were to take action against this decision.

Above all, however, the now finely timed process of work with sensitive coordination of the trades is endangered.

The council shared the assessment of the mayor and administration.

Nevertheless, it rained criticism.

"Bad that no cost buffer was installed and we are so driven," said Elisabeth Gerner (SPD).

Stephanie Konopac from the Free Voters saw no alternative to approving the new cost structure.

"The costs are constantly rising and we are bound by deadlines - all we can do is bite the bullet."

Second Mayor Kilian Körner (Greens) was "surprised" at the amount of the tender result.

“One hears everywhere about orders collapsing.

So this offer seems very high to me.” However, Körner did not want to shy away from agreeing, even if he warned that tenders should be tendered even more quickly in the future.

However, one must “learn to advertise even faster in the future”.

CSU parliamentary group spokesman Leon Bogner recognized the current figures as a "quite economical offer" in view of inflation and constant cost increases.
