A yellow grass grows between the last patches of snow.
In the gigantic sky, clouds file by at full speed, pushed by the wind which blows without obstacle in the vast expanses of Montana.
The only beings visible in the desert landscape are the black silhouettes of Angus cows and the lighter ones of horses.
"Today, the younger generations prefer quads for tending livestock,"
says Ed Butcher, who drives around his property in an all-terrain vehicle.
At 79, his boots in the mud, he opens the barbed wire fences by hand and closes them by stretching the wires with the strength of his arms.
“I was knocked down by a horse last year, which broke a few ribs.
Everything is fine, but I'm taking it easy now,”
he said.
Ed Butcher is the third generation running the family ranch.
