The members of the Karlsfeld main and finance committee struggled laboriously, position by position, through the 2023 budget.

Karlsfeld –

It was often just a matter of a few hundred euros.

The goal: With a deficit of four million euros, to draw up a budget that the supervisory authority in the district office approves.

Even the smallest items are saved in the Karlsfeld budget

As if drawing up an approvable budget for Karlsfeld wasn't difficult enough, the latest collective agreements for public sector employees from last weekend didn't make it any easier, said Mayor Stefan Kolbe (CSU) at the beginning of the second meeting of this year's budget deliberations.

For 2023 it is important to pay the agreed special payment of 2560 euros per employee.

So the motto was: save;

even for small items.

According to Kolbe, 700,000 euros are in the budget for the preservation of Karlsfeld's streets.

Service bicycles could ride on it.

According to Cataldo, there is still none for city hall employees, but there is an estimate of 8,000 euros for two pedelecs in the budget.

Kolbe suggested halving the approach.

A pedelec and a normal bike should be enough for this year.

Only Heike Miebach (Greens) was against it.

The 3,500 euros for an adult education center service bike also fell victim to the cutbacks.

A good find bike will do, too.

Another example: the teaching materials for the elementary school on Krenmoosstrasse.

Here the committee members reduced the estimate from 17,500 to 14,000 euros.

But there were also major cuts.

For example, the 130,000 euros planned for sirens.

Examples of further cuts: Only 8,000 euros instead of the previous 17,000 euros are in the budget for the holiday care of the Karlsfeld children.

Heike Miebach suggested canceling the 1,500 euros for sweets in the play mobile.

Also gone are the 40,000 euros planning costs for tiny houses.

There are only a few items where the approach remains

Savings are also made at the “Hüttenzauber” Christmas market.

The planned purchase of two new huts is no longer necessary.

The committee members did not want to accept the 8,000 euros for the Christmas lights on Bruno-Danzer-Platz and along the Wögerwiese.

Kolbe accepted 5,000 euros for the electrician's work: "You gasp when the mulled wine cooker stops working." Kolbe suggested a total budget of 30,000 euros.

The committee unanimously agreed.

There was also an indirect saving: The age limit for the senior citizens' afternoon at the Karlsfeld settlers' festival, where the elderly get half a chicken and a drink for free, increases from 65 to 67 years.

At the fire brigade, however, finance and economics officer Stefan Theil (CSU) raised an objection: "It would be the wrong place to save here." However, the mayor advocated allocating a fixed budget to the fire brigade for the future.

Elsewhere, too, the approach remains the same, for example for supervision, i.e. external care, for example by youth social workers at secondary schools or in the youth center.

The funds for this should remain untouched.

According to the mayor, the 109,700 euros for the new large gymnasium of the elementary school on Krenmoosstraße are due to the need for a second caretaker, who, like his colleague, is responsible for the old and new school building and the gymnasium.

There should also be no cuts in the community library for the procurement of new media, as otherwise the readership would run away due to the lack of attractiveness of the offer, according to Kolbe.
