Act for Labor Day: the CGT closes ranks with Massa, but endorses Cristina's strategy and hits Javier Milei

2023-05-01T21:50:57.573Z

The workers union will hold its celebration this Tuesday at the Defensores de Belgrano stadium. Criticism of the libertarian, demand to renegotiate the agreement with the IMF and more nods to a candidacy for the Minister of Economy.

A deeply critical description of the economic and social reality, the urgent demand to

review the agreement with the IMF

and evident signs of support for

Sergio Massa's presidential project

make up the main guidelines of the message that the

CGT

will brandish this Tuesday in its own staging for Labor Day.

All this but with an

important novelty

: it will also endorse the electoral strategy inaugurated a few days ago by

Cristina Kirchner

to focus its heaviest political artillery against the figure of the libertarian

Javier Milei

.

A striking gesture in a central where sympathies for the vice president are far from expressing the majority of the union leadership.

Without mentioning it explicitly, not even with the resource of the "pelífero" that Cristina used, the CG attack against Milei makes up one of the

axes of the draft of the document

that will be read this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Defensores de Belgrano stadium, where Without the presence of the Minister of Economy -despite the bets that several leaders fed- the leadership of the entity will carry out with a day of delay the

central act

for the celebration closest to the union tradition.

The offensive against the libertarian, incorporated in the pronouncement whose drafting was in charge of the leader Gerardo Martínez (UOCRA), is leveraged in the complaint about the appearance of "

emerging anti-system

" who seek to capitalize on the "fertile" ground offered by "discontent" product of the critical economic scenario and which pose a "

risk" for the validity of "a full democratic system".

As Cristina did, the CGT will also charge against the figure of Javier Milei.

But it will not be an isolated allusion: the speeches in the act of the members of the driving triumvirate, which make up

Pablo Moyano, Héctor Daer and Carlos Acuña

, will hammer on the same warning although with more direct questions about Milei.

Palpable evidence of the

concern that the growth of the leader of Libertad Avanza in the latest polls

generates behind the scenes of the Frente de Todos, where the definition of the electoral offer for the presidential dispute is still unknown.

The dominant sectors of the CGT have long since taken sides in this internal struggle and have joined a column with a

possible candidacy of Massa.

They raised it with multiple gestures and statements in recent months and in front of the crowd of more than 20,000 people who hope to gather tomorrow at the stadium in the Nuñez neighborhood, they will once again offer new nods.

More gestures in favor of Massa

Although the

minister will not be at the meeting

because he will travel with President Alberto Fernández in Brazil, the union leadership will echo one of its main proposals in the midst of the rise in the dollar and its effect on the uncontrollable inflation: they will demand an urgent rediscussion of the terms and guidelines in the conditions of the debt services committed to the Monetary Fund.

"Its consequences are becoming more burdensome every day," the document will warn about.

The rest of the line of speech that will emerge from the CGCE celebration will replicate the sense of the message that the entity underpinned a couple of weeks ago at the first meeting of the year of its board of directors, although it will also go a little further in future challenges.

The warning about the critical economic situation and the impact of inflation and poverty that put social cohesion at serious risk will be repeated.

And they will also insist on the claim to the entire political leadership to offer urgent responses to the crisis.

"Solutions require a common denominator: a great political, economic and social agreement," the central office will say just days after the meeting it held with Massa and in which it was agreed to advance an understanding for 90 days with the business sectors to offer a framework of stability.

Sergio Massa received the CGT and the social movements last week.

A photo of unity

At the same time, it will urge the ruling class, both in the government and in the opposition, to put down their individual positions in order to put "improving consensus" into practice.

It will seek there to offer itself as an example of that claim, affirming its own internal unity beyond the recognizable nuances that coexist within the plant.

In this regard, tomorrow's photo will aim to strengthen the message.

Both on the stage of the act and in the speeches,

all the internal spaces of the plant will come together

.

From the majority groups in the leadership (the "fats" of the large service unions, the "independents" of UPCN, UOCRA and Obras Sanitarias, and the Barrionuevismo) to the sectors most identified with Kirchnerism, such as the network of unions commanded by by Hugo and Pablo Moyano or the Trade Union Current, led by the Christian Sergio Palazzo.

"The objective is

to preserve unity above all

," they argue in the first line of the CGT.

It is the minimum bet in the cegetista desire to regain prominence in the electoral scenario and assert its political weight in the definition of the strategy and the candidacies of the ruling party.
