Almost three weeks after the death of 16-year-old Maiden Keller, who was hospitalized following the use of an electronic cigarette, a 16-year-old boy from Rehovot was hospitalized this evening (Tuesday) in moderate condition in pediatric intensive care at the Kaplan Medical Center, after his lungs were damaged, apparently as a result of using an electronic cigarette.
The hospital reported that "the boy is hospitalized with suspected EVALI (lung damage caused by smoking electronic cigarettes) which is still under investigation. The boy testified that he smoked electronic cigarettes. He arrived at the hospital suffering from respiratory failure, is currently hospitalized in moderate condition and is receiving supportive care ".
This is a less serious case than the case in Schneider where Midan Keller found his death.
At the moment, the hospital does not intend to connect him to an Acmo machine, and now - they are checking what exactly was in the cigarette, nicotine or drugs.

The Cancer Society responded to the publications: "We wish the boy a speedy recovery and support his family. The vape has become a dangerous epidemic among children and youth in Israel that continues to claim victims. It is essential that parents are aware of the symptoms and damages. This is a dangerous and addictive product that creates physical and mental dependence and seriously harms health."
"We call on the members of the Knesset and the government to consider a complete ban on the import of disposable electronic cigarettes and flavored electronic cigarettes, similar to dozens of countries that have already managed to ban this, and also call on the Israel Police to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the sale to minors. We are in a very difficult period and difficult times require decisive measures," they added.
