The 23-year-old girl was practicing one of her

favorite hobbies

on April 2 at the Windsor Polo Grounds, a special site for horse riding

on the outskirts of Sydney

Weir was riding her horse when

the animal fell in full gallop and she was trapped

, an event that left her with "fatal injuries", according to local media reports.

The Miss Universe Australia finalist was immediately taken to an area hospital for treatment.

There she received emergency medical attention for the serious injuries suffered in her fall.

In that same care center, Weir spent

several weeks connected to life support

, which kept her alive despite the fact that her organs were not responding. 

Finally, the model ended up being disconnected last Thursday, after she

declared herself brain dead

and the permission of her relatives was obtained, according to local media reports.

The young woman's boyfriend, Tom Bull, published several images where they appear together and happy.

To accompany them, he used a farewell poem.

"I love you my sunflower girl

," he wrote on his Instagram account.

"My favorite poem, 'Annabel Lee,' written by her favorite poet, Edgar Allan Poe."

The famous model had given an interview to People magazine where she expressed

her love for horse riding

"I've been riding since I was 3 years old and I can't imagine my life without it," model Sienna Weir had said in an interview.

"Even though I lived most of my life in the city, I have a deep and unshakeable

love for jumping

. My family isn't quite sure where this passion comes from, but I've been riding since I was 3 years old and

I can't imagine my life without it

," he said on that occasion.

"I travel to rural Sydney two or three times a week to train and compete in New South Wales or Australia every other weekend," he added, confirming his love of horse riding competitions.

Numerous relatives, friends, and admirers said goodbye to the young model by leaving messages on her Instagram account.

Sienna Weir had recently earned two college degrees.

"Rest in peace, Sienna", were some of the comments.

A friend wrote: "Heaven has won the most beautiful angel today. I will miss everything about you Siena, I love you."

The same friend said that Sienna's smile "lit up every room" she walked into.
