As summer approaches, political offensives are increasing against short-term rentals, accused of drying up the rental market.
"We don't want accommodation to turn into holiday centers between June and September and into a dormitory town the rest of the year",
gets carried away Christophe Plassard, Horizons deputy for Charente-Maritime.
The parliamentarian is not the only one to be up against the influx of tourist rentals.
Two other deputies and a senator, from different political persuasions, are demanding that they be more strictly supervised.
“We have nothing against
tourists
, but we observe that the available accommodation is increasingly rented to tourists passing through, at the expense of the local population,”
laments Julien Bayou, EELV deputy for Paris.
And the political pressure is mounting: on May 31, a bill will be examined by the National Assembly in the Economic Affairs Committee and then, on June 12, in session.
