A serious case in the IDF: The MAG Corps today (Monday) filed an indictment against a soldier with the rank of Staff Sergeant from the Golani Brigade for assault, aggravated abuse and threats against a Palestinian, among several other offenses.
According to the indictment, during a reconnaissance mission a few weeks ago, the defendant and three other soldiers put the Palestinian in a military jeep and drove with him to a secluded place. There the Palestinian was beaten, among other things, with a weapon, and threats were made against him, including threats with weapons.
The soldiers left the Palestinian where he had been taken, suffering from pain and various injuries. After the incident, the defendant and the other soldiers concealed the details of the case from their commanders in an attempt to prevent the opening of a Military Police investigation and coordinated versions.
An indictment is also expected to be filed against the other three soldiers, subject to a hearing. Two of the soldiers have been remanded in custody and the third will remain in open detention.
