What will happen to the Langenbach-Oberhummel parish association when Pastor Julian Tokarski retires soon? The Archiepiscopal Ordinariate provides answers.
Langenbach – Since 1 October 2014, Julian Tokarski has been pastor in Langenbach. Now he has announced his farewell. And promptly, the faithful in Langenbach ask themselves what will happen to the parish from September 1, 2023. Will a new pastor be appointed, will the Langenbach parish association remain independent or will it be incorporated into the Zolling parish association? The Freisinger Tagblatt asked the Archbishop's Ordinariate. The answer: a resounding "Yes and no".

Tokarski has actually been retired since April 15, and the "instruction for administration" of the Langenbach-Oberhummel parish association ends on August 31, according to the response from the Ordinariate. And then? There will be no successor to Tokarski, who would then lead the parish association of Langenbach. The solution, as envisaged by the Ordinariate, goes like this: "From September 1, 2023, the parish associations of Langenbach and Zolling will be jointly led by Father Ignatius Kullu OPraem," the Ordinariate announced. Kullu, who comes from India and belongs to the Premonstratensian Order, has been leading the Zolling parish association, which also includes Haag, Inkofen and Oberappersdorf, since 1 September 2015. As the Archbishop's Ordinariate further announces, however, both parish associations "will retain their respective independence".
Fusion into a pastoral team
But in the future, both parish associations will not only have a common leader in Ignatius Kullu. According to the plans of the Ordinariate, the pastors assigned to the two parish associations will also be merged into a "joint pastoral care team", which will then be instructed in both parish associations. In the case of Langenbach, this applies to Deacon Christoph Gasteiger and, in the case of the Zolling parish association, in addition to Kullu, his fellow order, Chaplain Father Christopher Gnanaprakasam.
