Operation Shield and Arrow: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant issued a statement Wednesday evening, coinciding with the heavy barrages of rockets fired at the southern and central communities, and while the IDF attacked Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said at the beginning of his statement that "we are still in the midst of the campaign," adding: "Anyone who harms us has his blood in his head. We say to terrorists and their senders, we see you everywhere. You can't hide and we choose the place and time to attack you. We and not you. Not only in response, but also in calm, our choice."

Netanyahu claimed that "so far we have dealt Islamic Jihad in Gaza the worst blow in its history. Within seconds, two seconds, in the middle of the night, we simultaneously, in three separate locations simultaneously, eliminated senior members of the terrorist organization. We hit its anti-tank system, its ammunition depots and its rocket manufacturing plants.

"In response to our actions, Islamic Jihad launched rockets at Israel. About a quarter of the rockets, perhaps close to a third, fell in their territory. The vast majority of rockets were intercepted by our defense systems. I would also like to commend here the Ministry of Defense and the defense establishment, which also brought new systems that successfully went into operation today."

Defense Minister Yoav Galant said: "About 400 rockets were fired at Israel. About a quarter of them fell inside the Gaza Strip, a significant portion fell in open areas, some were intercepted, and unfortunately there were also several hits on homes. We have made significant achievements and we are prepared to continue operating in Gaza against Islamic Jihad and any other element." Galant added: "The campaign is not over, I hope we will bring it to an end soon, but we are prepared for it to be prolonged."
