Highlights: Fans and stars of "Der Bergdoktor" met for the annual Fan Day in Scheffau. At the Fantage in the Wilder Kaiser region, guests not only get to see the filming locations of the ZDF home series, but also experience Martin Gruber (Hans Sigl, 53) and Co. in real life. Hordes of cheering and clapping fans cavort in front of the stage and beam up to their ears - another proof of what a guarantee of success ZDF still is.

On May 11, the fans and stars of "Der Bergdoktor" met for the annual Fan Day in Scheffau. Once again, it became clear how popular the ZDF series is at the moment.

Scheffau – Unfortunately, it will take until 2024 before new episodes of "The Mountain Doctor" can be seen. But before new stories from Ellmau finally flicker across the screens next year, the viewers and stars of the series met for a fan meeting in a class of its own. Being able to experience your favourite actors up close – a joyful occasion that attracted crowds of visitors.

Huge audience: Fan Day with Hans Sigl, Ronja Forcher and Co. attracts masses of "Bergdoktor" fans

To really immerse yourself in the world of a series and to be able to meet the characters you have been accompanying for years in person - for the loyal "Bergdoktor" fans, this dream comes true every year. At the Fantage in the Wilder Kaiser region, guests not only get to see the filming locations of the ZDF home series, but also experience Martin Gruber (Hans Sigl, 53) and Co. in real life.

On May 11, it was that time again and crowds of enthusiastic fans dressed in raincoats and waterproof ponchos gathered on the village square in Scheffau. Among them are the big "Bergdoktor" stars: Hans Sigl, Ronja Forcher (26), Monika Baumgartner (71), Heiko Ruprecht (51), Rebecca Immanuel (52) and Andrea Gerhard (39).

Ronja Forcher documented the day in her Instagram story and her photos make it clear what immense popularity the event enjoyed, especially this year. Hordes of cheering and clapping fans cavort in front of the stage and beam up to their ears - another proof of what a guarantee of success "Der Bergdoktor" still is for ZDF even 15 years after its first broadcast.

Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"

Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor". The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of the German television landscape. But what very few people know is that the role as Lisbeth Gruber's son is not Hans Sigl's first appearance as a mountain doctor. Ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series, which was still running on Sat.1 at the time and which focused on Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor. Who knows – maybe one day an extra from the ZDF remake will be Hans Sigl's successor?

"It was another great and entertaining afternoon," enthuses one visitor, "Unique, funny and with a lot of heart," another sums up the event. However, spectators had to do without a familiar face: Mark Keller (58) does not seem to have been present at the fan day – but perhaps "Dr. Alexander Kahnweiler" will pay a visit to the next event in September. Meanwhile, for the 17th "Mountain Doctor" season, the cast is growing. Sources used:Instagram, fuersie.de
