But where is Karine Pialle? The mother of the family has not been found for six weeks now. Faced with this situation, a judicial investigation for kidnapping and sequestration against X was opened on April 17, Le Figaro learned from the prosecutor of the Republic of La Roche-sur-Yon.
Karine was last seen at her home in La Malnoue, two kilometres from the town of Maché. The fifty-year-old reportedly left the scene at 16:30 p.m. and has not been seen since.

Almost a week after the disappearance, the mother's phone was found without a SIM card and with a photo of her daughter in a carpool area in Maché. "It's very strange, when the mayor of the town gave me the phone, it was in perfect condition while it rained all day," says the husband of the disappeared. The next day, Karine's husband decides to report his wife's disappearance to the gendarmerie. An investigation for disturbing disappearance is then opened and entrusted to the research section of Nantes. The investigations were entrusted to the prosecutor's office of Sables-d'Olonne which relinquished the investigation in favor of that of La Roche-sur-Yon.

On April 11, the Nantes research section decided to search Karine's home. "They took all the phones and computers in the house," says the husband, "they passed the ashes of my chimney through a sieve, divers probed my well and a helicopter flew over the area."
On May 9, the gendarmerie issued a call for witnesses that for the moment had yielded nothing. In the report Karine is described as, measuring 1m67, having black hair, mid-long and curly, and being of European type. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing fancy gold-plated earrings and rings on both hands. She has a tattoo with a length of 25 cm in the bottom of the kidneys representing seven fleurs-de-lis.
