The Nazareth court on Tuesday ordered the release to house arrest of Liad Edri, the only defendant in the murder of Yoel Lehenghel in Kiryat Shmona.
The release, under electronic shackling, was delayed by two days to allow an appeal by the State Prosecutor's Office. In its decision, the court set additional restrictive conditions on Edri during house arrest: he would be forbidden to use electronic devices and contact those involved in the affair, and he would be required to deposit NIS 150,000 as a promise to appear at the hearings.

Yoel Lehnahal's parents demanded that the court not release the defendant Edri. Gideon, Lahnhal's father, said: "We used to live a happy life and now our son's murder has happened. Edri is the head of the whole mess of my son's murder. Everyone sees that he, he's my son's killer. How is it acceptable after he murdered someone, that he should be released now? Look at how he behaves and laughs in court, how can it be that he conducts himself the way he does and without remorse? I ask not to release him at all."
Batsheva, Yoel Lehnahal's mother, said: "If Edri didn't exist, my son would be alive and we could live together now. I ask that he remain in prison. Edri is a murderer, and if our country does not accept this fact, the state will embrace a murderer."
