No, MEP Nadine Morano, a long-time member of the Republicans, will "never" join the RN. And too bad if the swamp rustled to see her propelled number two on Jordan Bardella's list for the 2024 European elections. The scenario worried LR all the way to the top. But the true-false ambiguity, opportunely maintained by Nicolas Sarkozy's former minister, has finally convinced that basically, Morano simply sought to "raise the stakes". "She made it known that Bardella did the belly dance to ensure a good place on the list," squeaks an LR tenor. An MEP agrees: "She discussed with Ciotti to get second place on the list." Denial to which the interested party herself ended up consenting this Tuesday on Europe 1.

Nothing but a little fright, then. But that illustrates a challenge for LR: to hold...
