The end of the numerus clausus is not for tomorrow
Between the endemic lack of resources of universities and the resulting increase in students, the end of the numerus clausus, promised by Emmanuel Macron, is still very far from being effective. The doctors of the boomer generation, all about to retire, cannot find replacements. As for young general practitioners, only a very small number of them seem ready to run the country roads night and day to visit an increasingly numerous and elderly patient at home. The others often opt for the hospital environment or for salaried work with the more framed hours of medical centers.
Medical deserts that continue to expand
The situation is harsh. This is evidenced by "Family doctor, care until exhaustion" on France 5 which, for several months, followed the daily life of general practitioners to take the pulse of a profession in full mutation. The documentary, edifying, followed by a debate, is broadcast as part of Marina Carrère d'Encausse's historical box, "Health Survey". An evening subtitled for the occasion of this alert: "Search for treating doctors, desperately". It is not the first of its kind. So much for that. However, it seems more necessary than ever to raise the issue of medical deserts, which unfortunately continue to expand.
