AUCTIONS - On May 20, on the sidelines of the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance, RM Sotheby's will disperse a collection of twelve leading Ferraris.

The wheel is turning. Under the sobriquet "Aurora Collection", the auction house RM Sotheby's disperses on May 20, as part of the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance, a collection of Ferraris from a Swedish collector. A man of taste, this lover of Maranello machines had gathered twelve models mainly on the road. The only racing model is a 500 1956 TR tray, the 3rd of 17 produced and listed under chassis number #0610 MDTR. It is estimated at between 4 and 4.5 million euros. Its first owner was the Italian prince Gaetano Starrabba di Giardinelli. Passionate about motor racing, this gentleman driver took part in less than ten races at the wheel of his red tray, finishing 3rd on two occasions. In 1957, the 500 TR made its way to Sweden. In the early 1970s, she was France at Marc Nicolosi, the founder of the Rétromobile show.

Another Ferrari from the Aurora collection stayed in France. This is the most important piece of the set sold by RM Sotheby's: a 250 GT Passo Corto steel body. The berlinetta is renowned for being one of the masterpieces of Italian bodywork. In remarkable condition, the example of the sale is the 62nd berlinetta out of the 165 produced. Bearing the chassis number 2347 GT, this 250 GT Passo Corto was for twenty years the property of Marseillais Jean-Claude Tripier. Entered the Swedish collection in 2011, the berlinetta that left the factory in February 1961 is estimated between 7.5 and 8.5 million euros.

Obviously, this Swedish collector has a weakness for driving hair in the wind since of the eleven road models, seven are convertibles. The collection includes a rare 365 4 GTS/1973 Daytona, the 113th of 122 manufactured, a 275 1965 GTS, a 250 1961 GT Cabriolet Series II and a 550 2001 Barchetta. The most recent model in this collection is the 1 Monza SP2019 tray belonging to the new family of special models that appeared in 2018. The current owner purchased it in September 2022. The odometer shows only 26 kilometers.
