Omer Etzion, actor, sketch creator and screenwriter, came to an intimate conversation on the podcast "The Digger" with Shir Ziv about his childhood, flourishing career and the years in which he struggled to stay in the industry.
"I was sure you were shit and pedal"
Etzion is familiar to you from children's programs as well as award-winning dramas for adults. Etzion recently starred in the series "Bloody Morey", from which he also dated with actress Naomi Lvov. Etzion says of the surprising reactions from women, "They're sure I'm human shit, they say, 'I was sure you were shit and dosh, but then I found out Walla had a person behind it.'" Etzion adds that he embraces the reactions and understands his image as an actor who often portrays the stereotypical Tel Aviv man.
The confidence that came from the stage
When Etzion is asked about his childhood, he says, "I wasn't such a crazy self-confident kid." Etzion quickly found his safe place in front of an audience. "When I showed up in front of the class, I was my," he recalls.
The road to the top was not easy, and at the beginning of his career Etzion did not rise as he had hoped. "Inside I had a feeling, why wasn't I in the repertory theater?... I'm not built from elbow materials," Etzion adds about his failed audition for a musical opposite Tzadi Sarfati and Tzipi Pines, "a poor audition, I forgot the words in the process," he recalls, admitting that today he would have done things differently. Etzion adds to the book about understanding and coming to terms with himself: "I'm Lite Bloomer, things happen to me at their own pace."
