Far from the "decline sometimes announced", small businesses would still remain attractive, according to a report by the Council of Economic Analysis (CAE) published Thursday, with nevertheless "large regional disparities". The slow growth in the number of shops in France (+0.7% between 2013 and 2019), "or even its decrease in rural areas and isolated cities", is indeed accompanied by "a change in the structure of the sector" which benefits "bars and restaurants more", explain in their report economists Marie-Laure Allain and Anne Epaulard.
