World's 50 Best: Central Restaurant in Lima, ranked the best in the world

Highlights: The Peruvian table, already second last year, succeeds Geranium in the world ranking. Unsurprisingly, it was the Central restaurant, by Virgilio Martínez and Pia León, in Lima (Peru), which was crowned the best. Four French restaurants are in the top 50, one more than last year: Table by Bruno Verjus, in 10th place (+67 positions compared to 2022, the best progression), Septime in 24th place (-2 vs. last year); Plénitude, directly at the 36th. Arpeggio and Clarence were relegated to positions 51 to 100.


The Peruvian table, already second last year, succeeds Geranium in the world ranking presented this Tuesday evening in Valencia. Four French restaurants are in the ranking, including one in the top 10.


Unsurprisingly, it was the Central restaurant, by Virgilio Martínez and Pia León, in Lima (Peru), which was crowned the best in the world, at the World's 50 Best ceremony this Tuesday evening in Valencia. Accustomed to ceremonies, the couple was already in second place last year.

Central is ahead of three Spanish restaurants (Disfrutar in Barcelona, Diverxo in Madrid and Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo) and one Danish establishment (Alchemist in Copenhagen).

Four French restaurants are in the top 50, one more than last year: Table by Bruno Verjus, in 10th place (+67 positions compared to 2022, the best progression), Septime in 24th place (-2 vs. last year); Plénitude, directly at the 36th and La Grenouillère sur le fil, in 48th position (+ 13 vs. 2022). Arpeggio and Clarence were relegated to positions 51 to 100.

Although its voting methods remain controversial, the 50 Best continues to enjoy a notable influence on the filling of restaurants around the world.
