A surprise came to light during the renovation of the Pschorr Fountain in Feldafing: The fountain, from which Empress Sisi drank, is framed by walls.
Feldafing - "We found tuff walls to the left and right of the fountain that had been overgrown for decades," Feldafing's mayor Bernhard Sontheim reported at the municipal council meeting on Tuesday and showed before and after photos. At the same time, he asked the local council for additional funds. During the site visit on Tuesday, it turned out that layer water behind the well wall flows through the wall into the basin in front of it. "There is a drain there, but unfortunately not at the deepest point," Sontheim reported. The water collects and prevents walkers from going to the spring. Especially in winter, Sontheim fears further damage. "The concrete and tuff freeze and break." Therefore, he asked for the clearance to commission a drainage. "So that we can renovate everything properly and don't have to do it again in a few years." The cost of the renovation is about 15,000 euros, plus the drainage. Everything should be ready by July.
The fountain was created in the second half of the 19th century by the Pschorr family. It received its present form in 1913, as can be read on the municipality's website. Dr. Michael Keltsch (AUF) recalled that Empress Elisabeth had taken a jug of water every day during her stays in Feldafing. "Yes, but not from the stratified water," Sontheim replied. "It comes from somewhere else." The well water is not drinking water, which is pointed out with a sign. EDL
