The Trump Show: The Former President Rebuffs the Allegations Against Him and Broadcasts Power | Israel Hayom

Highlights: For much of the crowd gathered to hear Trump speak in Washington, the much-maligned businessman is nothing less than a messenger of God. It is doubtful whether there is any other leader in the world who manages with such skill to speak to people rather than above them. And he also understands much more about what he is talking about than his opponents think. The enthusiasm with which they surrounded the former president during an hour-long speech was a thousand times more powerful than the other Republican contenders who had spoken at the convention.

The speech at Frompeter was prepared precisely, but Trump abandoned it dozens of times during the performance. "What do I need it for. I've had such a peaceful life," he shared to the crowd, and a sigh of agreement followed by applause swept the hall. For them, it was a moment of personal honesty on the part of the man they admired.

About 1,000 people were there. Old and young, black and cuban, men and women, whites and Mexicans, parents and babies, who paid a lot of money and waited hours in line to see the best show in town – and who themselves are an integral part of it. In the Washington ballroom, they stood on chairs, waved handkerchiefs, cheered and protested, shouted and supported, and also took selfies, to the glory of the United States of America.
"It just so happens that I'm the one on the podium. For it is not after me that they chase, but after you." Manipulation or truthfulness? It doesn't matter at all. The crowd erupted and roared until the ceiling almost fell. Trump communicates with his supporters, as none of his competitors do. It is doubtful whether there is any other leader in the world who manages with such skill to speak to people rather than above them.

The text rolls through the transparent prometer screens. Trump reads it, but pulls out jokes and bites, stories and secrets, dilemmas and anger. He manages to convey the message that "this is everything for you."

The enthusiasm with which they surrounded the former president during an hour-long speech was a thousand times more powerful than the other Republican contenders who had spoken at the convention before him. With that energy, it's hard to see DeSantis or any other candidate beating him in the primary. By the way, Trump knows what he's talking about, much more than his opponents think. For example, he detailed orally the considerations for recognizing the Golan Heights, contrary to the claim prevalent at the time in Israel that he had no idea what it was all about.

Journalistic cynicism does not know how to mediate such intimate moments between leader and leader. Reporters and commentators portray Trump as an attacker of women, a thief of documents, and a manipulative and exploitative businessman.

Here in the courtroom, Trump—a man whose wild way of life runs counter to everything evangelical Christians around me believe—is God's messenger. He is the strong man who will rebuild a devastated America, fight the progressive establishment, preserve family values, stop abortion, stand up to China, bring peace to the world, "throw the hell out of the ridiculous communist-Marxist-fascists who hate America, and make America Great Agyen."

And what about the trial and accusations, you ask. Well, certainly with this audience, but perhaps beyond, Trump manages to raise doubts about the gravity of his actions, and to convince him that he did not do anything that his predecessors did not. He says Carter, Clinton, Biden and Pence took secret documents just like him, but they didn't investigate. Given the daily revelations about the Biden family's misdeeds and the cover-up of the investigation, it's hard to argue with him.

He presents legal arguments that the FBI should not have taken the cartons from him at all, and so on. Will the story he tells be enough for the 45 percent Republicans guaranteed for each candidate, or also for the six percent of independents who will decide the presidential election? On 5/11/24, the answer will become clear.
