An indictment was filed today (Monday) against Dmitry Mordchilevich, a 39-year-old resident of Hadera, who went to a café in Netanya to rob 20,<> shekels. Everything went according to plan, until several people attacked him and detained him until the police arrived. He was charged today with attempted armed robbery and aggravated wounding.

According to the facts of the indictment, which was filed in the Central District Court, last Tuesday at around 2 a.m., a shift manager at the café was counting NIS 20,<> worth of banknotes that were in a bag. At one point, Mordchilevich entered the scene with his face covered and armed with a screwdriver and a knife in his pants pocket. Mordkilevich located the manager standing alone near the cash register, approached him holding a knife in his left hand and pointed it at the complainant and told him: "Bring me the money." In response and in order to defend himself against the defendant's actions, the complainant punched the accused, grabbed a basket for glasses that was there and tried to defend himself with it.
In response, Mordakhilewicz punched the complainant, knocked him to the ground, continued to beat him and tried to stab him with the knife in various places on his body. After noticing the deed, other people present arrived at the scene, removed him from the manager, grabbed him and held him until Netanya police arrived at the scene and arrested him. At the same time, the stabbed director was taken to Laniado Hospital.
In addition to the security videos documenting the incident, Netanya investigators took the testimony of eyewitnesses who entered the restaurant at the sound of the complainant shouting, saw the defendant attack the complainant while holding a knife in his hand and held him there until the police arrived. A request was filed against Mordakhilewicz for remand until the end of the proceedings, and it was noted that the defendant has 6 criminal convictions and has even served several prison sentences for theft, possession of weapons, debit card fraud and more.
