Following the publication in Israel Hayom that direct flights from Israel to Sri Lanka will operate during the Tishrei holidays, Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced today (Wednesday) that she is currently promoting direct flights from Israel to some of the most beautiful places in the world - the Azores and Madeira in Portugal, as well as to Sri Lanka.
The flights in question are expected to begin as early as September. In addition, direct flights will begin to Madeira and the Azores in Portugal, destinations that are considered dreamy and now, in order to reach them, a stopover and a change of plane are necessary.

Recently, direct flights have also begun to Iceland, Dublin, Malaga, Ibiza and SAS is expected to operate direct flights to various destinations in Scandinavia. In addition, about three months ago, convoy flights to Tokyo also began, and additional destinations are currently being examined. This was partly due to the opening of the possibility of flying over Oman and Saudi Arabia and the shortening of flights to the east.
The post-COVID-19 period caused many Israelis to look for new destinations, and now, as mentioned, we are presenting direct flights to Sri Lanka, Madeira and the Azores for the first time.
