2023-07-17T06:29:47.660Z

Highlights: From July 5 until mid-September the Consular Palace of Toulouse will host an exhibition of the Sistine Chapel. The 34 frescoes will be reproduced in life-size high definition photographs. Visitors will be able to stroll every day through the corridors and lounges of the Palace, including the Doumergue room, which houses the reproduction of the Last Judgment. If each fresco is accompanied by an explanatory cartel, the audioguide application downloadable on site allows you to deepen the different works.

The Consular Palace of Toulouse, seat of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomes from July 5 until mid-September the former

It is one of the masterpieces of the Renaissance and arguably one of the most impressive achievements of Western art. Painted between 1508 and 1512 by Michelangelo, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the papal palaces of the Vatican depicts scenes from Genesis and the Book of Kings surrounded by prophets, sibyls and ancestors of Christ. Splendid works, but difficult to admire because perched at 20 meters high.

"Those who have already visited it know it: it is very crowded and it is very short. The chapel is dark, to preserve the paintings and we see few details. That's the whole point of this exhibition," says Alice Würtz, project manager for Fever, which co-organizes this event with See Global Entertainment. The concept is to present 34 frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, including that of the Last Judgment, reproduced in life-size high definition photographs. "Thanks to the Silicone Edge Graphic technology, we are closer to the rendering of the original paintings," she continues.

From Vatican palaces to consular palaces

And, after Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille, it is the Consular Palace of Toulouse that has been chosen as a showcase to present these works. Elected to the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, housed in this building in the center of the Pink City, Sonia Paulhe is pleased to host the exhibition Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. "We are trying to open the doors of this historic place in Toulouse as much as possible. We are therefore delighted that the CCI that a wider public, not limited to entrepreneurs, can take advantage of this event to discover this sublime palace steeped in history, in addition to a fabulous exhibition. »

Until mid-September, visitors will be able to stroll every day through the corridors and lounges of the Consular Palace, including the Doumergue room, which houses the reproduction of the Last Judgment. If each fresco is accompanied by an explanatory cartel, the audioguide application downloadable on site allows you to deepen the different works. It is therefore advisable to equip yourself with headphones. In the course of the exhibition, a film returns in more detail on the circumstances of this commission from Pope Julius II to Michelangelo and on the technical means used for such a titanic project.
