A fiasco? The new real estate declaration campaign for individuals is in any case far from a success. At the end of June, only 61% of declarations had been filed and the tax administration expects 24 million more. The tax authorities are overburdened with requests and questions from taxpayers. The union Solidaires-finances publiques denounces a congestion of the centers and no less than 94,000 calls were recorded on June 16 via the national number. So much so that the Directorate General of Public Finances has decided to postpone the deadline for this declaration to 31 July, "given the influx of declarations at the end of the period".
As a reminder, the housing tax has been abolished for all households since 1 January 2023, but continues to apply to second homes and other vacant premises. All owners must declare online, for each of their properties, in what capacity they occupy them but...
