Miraculous. On Wednesday (July 19th), a baby was found in a garbage bag carried by a stray dog in Tripoli, Lebanon, reports The National, an Abu Dhabi daily. The infant, a baby girl probably just a few weeks old, is alive, despite bruising on her face and body. The dog was holding the garbage bag in his mouth, when a passerby heard crying that seemed to come from it.
The baby was quickly taken to the government hospital in Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city, where he was treated. His condition was deemed serious but stable. "This baby was thrown into an area considered very dangerous at night, because there are many stray dogs there," a Tripoli journalist told Arab News.
Internet users revolted
This discovery was greeted with horror and indignation by the Lebanese population. "Usually, when someone wants to abandon their child, they drop him off in front of an orphanage or a police station," says the journalist. Here, it appears that the infant was knowingly left in a hostile environment to be devoured. Many Internet users were outraged by this act, which proves, according to them, that some animals show more compassion than some human beings.
For now, the authorities and the hospital refuse to comment on the case to local media. When the little girl is cured, if no adoption solution is found, she will be placed in an orphanage.
