Architects Shira Dromi and Anouk Ron of Basalt Architects turned an old-fashioned four-room apartment in Herzliya into a spacious apartment, decorated in modern and elegant lines.

The dream of the customers was a cozy modern apartment with a luxurious look. The process took 3 months and included a massive change in all parts of the house to fit the family, a couple plus 2 children.

The importance of designing and planning the kitchen was great because its location is near the entrance to the house and therefore it was important that from the first glance at the entrance to the house we get a sense of space. In addition, the family hosts frequently, so one of the requirements was to plan a spacious and impressive kitchen that would provide a daily solution for hosting and cooking and baking, which are done frequently. Every detail is taken into account, from dedicated general storage for everything to a carpentry unit facing the living room that allows for a visual and interesting connection in the space.

The special color scheme including shades of gray, wood and black blends perfectly with natural granite marble countertops chosen for the kitchen island and other work surfaces. In addition, the island, whose meticulous design with clean lines, was thoughtfully designed to allow comfortable seating and at the same time storage and a spacious work surface.

The planning went down to great detail and dominated all parts of the house. In the living room, similar to the kitchen, an interesting carpentry wall was designed, partly open and partly closed, allowing for a lot of storage. In addition, the architects chose to combine built-in lighting for a pleasant atmosphere in the evening. The combination of wood in the open unit together with the gray tones allows a visual connection to the kitchen.

The choice of furniture with a meticulous and luxurious look was made in order to create harmony together with the planned carpentry, while the accessories, carpets and accessories were carefully selected in a scale of shades and style to suit the entire atmosphere.

The dining area was located adjacent to the balcony and during hospitality a continuous and wide space was created overlooking the three main functions of a house, living room, kitchen and dining area.

"It was important for us to bring the outside in, so thought was put into planning the entire balcony. The deck outside has been replaced with the same tiles that were paved inside the house, with a spacious and inviting seating area located in front of the exit, allowing an inside view even for those sitting outside. The choice of an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor dining area continues the line of thinking that the house is a host and inviting home even in its exteriors," explains Basalt Architects.

The master bedroom was designed as a luxurious and spacious suite, one of the requests was to incorporate a home office that does not deviate from the intimate area of the room. And at the same time allows room for prolonged work if necessary. The result is a work area hidden by a harmonica door that continues into a vanity corner.

We answered the need for separate and spacious cabinets by designing 2 luxury cabinets for her and him, purchased and designed by the Delkov Cabinet Company. And so we fulfilled for the shopping-loving couple two separate and practical storage areas. Closets have great significance in the bedroom space. Beyond the practice that meets the need for storage, an inseparable thought was given to the design line.

The cabinet fronts were custom-designed with a matte glass finish in an interesting asymmetrical division that winks at the luxurious style. The choice of light shades for the exterior facades was made in order to continue the pleasant feeling of the other light tones in the room that blend perfectly with the wooden parquet. On the entire internal division of cabinets architectural beliefs that took into account all the needs and desires of customers. For the inner body of the cabinets, a material was chosen that simulates snakeskin that gives a luxurious and sophisticated look, all as stated by Delkov. Inside the closets were incorporated internal mirrors and hidden and separate subdivisions for shoes, accessories and of course clothes. When we realized that there is a need for a lot of storage for many shoes, we also found a solution for this by designing a double door inside the closet that separates the shoes from the rest of the clothes and prevents the passage of odors.

Also in the bathrooms is reflected the luxurious and modern line of the rest of the house. The couple's bathroom is completely covered with tiles that resemble light onyx stone and paved with dark tiles to emphasize and create a dramatic look. A combination of custom carpentry for the sink cabinet in shades from the color palette of the tile with natural stone cladding to the surface of the sink cabinet completes the picture and creates a pleasant and harmonious line for the bathroom.

Also for the general bathroom used by children and guests, a dark floor and concrete-like tiles were chosen combined with bronze-colored sanitary ware that connect to the entire color palette in the room. The fluted carpentry has been designed to allow convenient storage for washing machines and detergent while blending perfectly with the look of the entire room.
