The police arrested the security officer who fired his weapon in the air during a confrontation with demonstrators at the entrance to Kibbutz Hatzerim. Four other suspects were arrested along with him for involvement in last night's unusual incident.
As noted, last night there was a protest near the entrance to the kibbutz, during which protesters blocked the entrance path to the kibbutz with vehicles.

During the protest, a fight broke out between a group of protesters and kibbutz residents, including the security officer, who used his weapon and fired in the air. Negev Regional Police forces were dispatched to the scene and acted to impose order and detained 7 suspects for interrogation on suspicion of involvement in the incident. The police also seized the security officer's weapon.
Upon completion of the interrogation of the suspects, it was decided to arrest the security officer and four other suspects involved in the incident, and they will be brought before the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday) for a hearing on a request to extend their detention. Two other suspects were interrogated and released under restrictive conditions.
