Saint-Nazaire: a man accused of kidnapping and beating his girlfriend arrested

On July 16, a woman, claiming to be a victim of domestic violence, alerted the police explaining that she had fled from an apartment in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) in which she would have been locked by her spouse. In the presence of the police, "the victim with traces of swelling on the face with bleeding wounds indicated having been hit several times by his companion and sequestered in the apartment whose shutters had been closed by the alleged perpetrator, as well as the front door," reports a police source.

Automatic pistol

With the police, the victim also alerted on the dangerousness of his companion. According to him, the latter would possess handguns. On their way to the apartment concerned, the police discovered, in the absence of the suspect, "the presence of a magazine, ammunitionand a 7.65 mm automatic pistol".

Also suspecting the companion of wanting to go to the marital home again, "active surveillance" was set up near the scene. In parallel, the victim was admitted to the hospital of Nantes. Epicentre of drug trafficking

Subsequently, the suspect, "well known" to the police, was located thanks to "technical research" in the "sensitive district" of La Trébale, in Saint-Nazaire. He was in an area considered an "epicenter of drug trafficking" and "where the suspect has many contacts likely to assist him on the run," according to the same source close to the investigation.

On Monday afternoon, the suspect was finally arrested by members of the anti-crime squad in the home of a social landlord, suspected of serving as a "nanny" for drug trafficking. While he was there in the presence of other individuals, a satchel was thrown from one of the windows of the apartment during the police intervention.

Cocaine and cannabis

"It contained asum of several thousand euros, cocaine, resin and cannabis herb. This discovery will be treated separately as part of an incidental procedure for drug trafficking, "says the same source.

As for the suspect, a 21-year-old man living in Saint-Nazaire, he was placed in custody for aggravated violence, kidnapping and prohibited possession of category B weapons and ammunition. He was brought this Wednesday afternoon before the prosecutor's office of Saint-Nazaire for an immediate appearance.
