A 38-year-old man, suspected of voluntary homicide, must be presented Wednesday before a judge after the murder of his companion "with a knife", facts he had confessed to the police after a refusal to comply, said the Lille prosecutor's office to AFP.
He must be presented "to the prosecutor's office for intentional homicide by spouse," explained the prosecutor of Lille, Carole Étienne. The suspect had been checked Monday for "drunk driving and lack of driver's license," she said. But "he fled when the police decided to arrest him", dragging "for several meters" an officer "hanging on the driver's window", which he then "hit the motorcycle", added the prosecutor.

The man was finally arrested after being "refused to comply with several injunctions". He then told the police that he had "killed his girlfriend with a knife". "The police went to his girlfriend's home and discovered the body," she added. According to a police source, the arrest took place in Haubourdin, near Lille. The suspect also confessed his crime on Snapchat and one of his contacts on the social network went to the Tourcoing police station on Monday to denounce him, added the same source.
