UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned on Thursday that in light of severe heat waves – manifested in recent days by severe fires in our region – we must understand that "the era of global boiling has arrived."

The warning came shortly after scientists released a scathing report that July 2023 would be recorded as the hottest month ever recorded.
"Climate change is here. It's scary, and it's just the beginning," Guterres told reporters, but also added an optimistic scenario.
"Global temperature rises can be limited by 1.5 degrees Celsius, thereby preventing climate change at its worst form – but only if we take dramatic steps immediately."
