The body of a 30-year-old transgender Israeli woman from Tel Aviv was found last week in a London hotel. According to medical officials in the British capital, she apparently died of an overdose. The body has not yet been returned to Israel due to the woman's lack of flight insurance.

As of now, in parallel with the efforts to return the deceased to Israel for burial in Israeli soil, Interpol has taken responsibility for the deceased.

The Foreign Ministry said: "Last Wednesday, a request was received from the Foreign Ministry's Department for Israelis Abroad regarding the death of a 30-year-old Israeli citizen in Britain. The Department for Israelis Abroad worked together with the Israeli consul at the embassy in London to verify the information and confirm that the above had passed away and the family had been updated on the unfortunate event. It was noted to the family that following the sensitive case, the law enforcement authorities will request an autopsy, which may delay the process of transferring the coffin back to Israel."
