They've entertained us for years by playing characters who are mostly pretty silly and flective – but some of the world's greatest actors and musicians are also highly educated people

We know them as actors and entertainers, and tend to think that they have always concentrated on cultivating looks and acting or music skills, at the expense of formal education – but some of them have quite impressive science degrees. As the school year approached, we used artificial intelligence Andi to find some celebrities from the entertainment world who are not only beautiful or talented, but also smart:

Brian May
Apart from being the legendary guitarist of Queen, May holds a PhD in astrophysics from Royal College London. He completed his degree in 1970, and returned to the institution to complete a follow-up doctorate on the subject of Movements of Interstellar Dust in 2007. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Mayim Bialik
Mayim Bialik is best known for her portrayal of neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory, but even in reality she is a highly educated woman: she graduated with a bachelor's degree with a major specialization in neuroscience and secondary specializations in Hebrew and Jewish studies in 2000, and a doctorate in neuroscience in 2007, both at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). Her doctoral dissertation was on 'hypothalamic regulation in relation to maladaptive, obsessive-compulsive, compulsive and compulsive behaviors in Prader–Willi syndrome'. Even Big Bang Theory viewers aren't geeky enough to figure it out.

Natalie Portman Natalie Portman
is an esteemed actress, who played in such films as "Closer", "Black Swan" and "Vendetta". She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Harvard University in 2003, was a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search and co-authored the study "Frontal lobe activation during object determination: data from near-infrared spectroscopy." Incidentally, in 2018 she returned the title because she claimed that a number of dumb decisions she made, chief among them the refusal to accept the Genesis Prize at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem, proved that she did not deserve to be considered as smart as her title suggests she is.

Ken Jong
Ken Jeong is a doctor, comedian and actor best known for his roles in "On the Way to the Wedding Stop in Vegas", "The Office", "Relax" and more. He completed his medical studies at Duke University, followed by an MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Rowan Atkinson
Rowan Atkinson, forever Mr. Bean, boasts not only perfect comic timing, but also a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Newcastle University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Queen's College, Oxford. Like Brian May, he was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the United Kingdom.

Lisa Kudrow Lisa Kudrow
gained worldwide fame for her portrayal of Phoebe Buffa in the famous sitcom Friends. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Vassar College and spent some time researching with her father, Dr. Lee Kudrow, a renowned clinician in the field of headache medicine.

Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria is known as Isabella Brania in The Young and the Restless and Gabriel Solis in Desperate Housewives. She received a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from A&M University in Kingsville, Texas, and a master's degree in chicano studies from California State University.
