Many protest organizations protested Monday night in Israel Hayom that Minister Porosh sent a letter to the Ukrainian court asking them to nationalize convicted sex offender Berland on Rosh Hashanah.

Berland is denied entry to the country because of a sermon he gave in the past in which he told his followers that Putin is a good man and that his war in Ukraine is just and worthy. In addition, he accused Ukraine of suffering from the war due to its refusal to admit Breslov followers to Uman.

Shai Glick, B'Tselem's executive director, was shocked by the assistance provided by the minister. "It is regrettable and outrageous that once again the minister, instead of using his power and status to help Israeli citizens and victims of sexual offenses, chose to help a man convicted of serious sexual offenses. I call on the minister, come and meet with your own eyes men and women who are victims of crime. I am sure that after such a meeting, when you understand the seriousness of the matter, you will always stand by them and take care of them and not those who harm them."

At the initiative of social activist Gal Rusaev, together with other ultra-Orthodox activists and the organizations "I Am" and "Teams," a protest is being organized this coming Thursday against Gafni's systematic assistance to sex offender Berland.

The Haredi Assistance Center for Minister Porush today wrote to Minister Meir Porush, demanding that he apologize for helping sex offender Berland. In the letter, the organization expressed its protest. "We were shocked to be exposed to reports that in your capacity, you chose to invest resources and efforts in submitting official requests on behalf of the State of Israel, to help convicted sex offender Eliezer Berland enter Ukraine for the Rosh Hashanah holiday," the Magen organization wrote, adding: "We protest your misuse, wild and despicable use of the name of millions of citizens who condemn Berland's grave actions. This will certainly not boast of the heritage of Israel and Jerusalem.

"As the Assistance Center for Victims of Sexual Offenses from the Haredi Sector, which accompanies hundreds of victims who are fighting their last forces against the mechanisms of silencing and whitewashing, we expect you to issue a public apology to the victims whom Berland corrupted, if you chose to help on behalf of the citizens of the State of Israel."
