Normalization by mistake: The historic flight from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Israel landed today (Tuesday) at Ben Gurion Airport.
The 128 passengers who left the Seychelles on Monday did not know that they would share history, but a technical malfunction led to a landing in the Arab country with which Israel has no relations, and now they have completed their journey to Israel on a precedent-setting Saudi flight to Israel. The tension ahead of the landing subsided after being welcomed in the Saudi port city on the Red Sea.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu said, "I very much appreciate the warm attitude of the Saudi authorities towards the Israeli passengers whose plane was in distress and had to make an emergency landing in Jeddah. I'm glad everyone is coming home. I really appreciate the good neighborliness."
