The Tel Aviv District Court on Wednesday convicted Amit Fogel (37), who pleaded guilty in a plea bargain to the murder of Rami Amira in 2011 and to aiding and abetting the murder of Jordan Azoulay that same year. The murders in which Fogel was involved are part of Case 1131, which deals with the investigation of a chain of assassinations and assassination attempts between rival organizations in the central region in the previous decade. As part of Case 1131, several indictments were filed and many defendants have already been convicted (and one was acquitted). This is the main case filed in the case, and Fogel is the first defendant to be convicted in this case.

As part of the plea bargain reached by the parties, the prosecutors in the case, attorneys Yossi Kurtzberg and Erez Richtenberg, filed an amended indictment in which Fogel confessed. As part of the plea bargain, the parties petition for a life sentence for the defendant. Arguments for punishment will be heard later.

Fogel admitted the facts of the amended indictment, according to which he conspired together with state witness B.B. and others to cause the death of Amira. To this end, Fogel and others conducted surveillance near the deceased's home, and on February 2, 2, Fogel followed him to the intersection in Rishon LeZion, where he fired three bullets, causing his death. The deceased's nephew, who was driving nearby, began to follow the motorcycle from which Fogel fired, and in response the latter also fired at him. Fogel was part of another conspiracy with the state's witnesses A.A. and B.B. and another man, in which they tricked Jordan Azoulay and brought him to the sands of Palmachim, claiming that they intended to murder another person and bury him there. In fact, Jordan was murdered in Palmachim by State Witness A.A. and another, and buried in a pit prepared in advance by Fogel and State Committee B.B. When they arrived back in Rishon LeZion, the murderers met Fogel near his home, where they washed the deceased's blood and changed their clothes. Fogel went to burn the helmets and clothes the murderers were wearing at the time of the murder.

A panel headed by Vice President Benny Sagi convicted Fogel of murder (premeditated), attempted sabotage with aggravated intent, aiding and abetting murder (premeditated) and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime (murder). The case of the defendants Yehoshua Rabi, Moti Hussein, Shlomi Niamchik and Shlomi Gavrieli has been going on in court for more than seven years.
