After the disaster in Libya left behind by Storm Daniel: The United Nations warned Monday morning of the precarious condition of two dams near the eastern city of Benghazi.
These are the Wadi Jaza and al-Qatara dams. The UN fears another dam collapse, as occurred in the Derna area, which led to flooding and thousands of deaths this month.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted in the report that last week's unprecedented flooding by Storm Daniel led to at least 11,300 deaths. This is while 10,100 people are still missing in the city of Derna alone. 170 people died in other parts of eastern Libya. However, Libya's Red Crescent said the numbers were varying and questioned that figure.
The report estimated that the death toll is expected to rise, as rescue teams continue efforts to locate survivors in the Derna region.

Meanwhile, survivors in Derna, whose homes were destroyed by the floods, are debating whether to leave or stay and risk contracting the infection spread by the bodies trapped under the rubble. Authorities also confirmed that 150 people were poisoned by contaminated water.
A resident of Derna told Reuters that he stayed to clean the place and try to find out who was missing. According to Libyan media, 891 buildings were destroyed in the city.
