The Israel Hotel Association announced today (Tuesday) very large discounts starting at 20% (and even more) for a number of hotels in Israel for 72 hours. The auction was supposed to start at 12:00, but in reality something completely different happened.
From the morning until this writing, the website of the Hotel Association simply crashed. The reason for the collapse of the site is, apparently, a relatively large amount of users who tried to get a vacation at a discount in the country.
Among the hotels that took part in the sale and are supposed to offer large discounts, are De Jaffa, Herods, hotels of the Brown chains, Isrotel, Fattal and quite a few other hotels all over the country – 212 of them in total.

About 7 hours after the site was supposed to be operational, it is still unclear when it will be back up and running, to the disappointment of Israeli tourists, who hoped to get a vacation at a discount – and instead, were left disappointed.
The Israel Hotel Association said: "The Association welcomes the great response of the public to vacation in hotels in Israel. In light of the enormous demand that was created, of more than 10,<> people at any given moment throughout the day, the Association's website went up and down intermittently. We operate from the morning hours and constantly expand the possibilities of traffic on the site in order to meet the demand. Until the system is stabilized, reservations can be made directly at the reservation centers of participating hotels. Later in the evening, a decision is expected to be made on extending the operation."
