Last Friday, Billy Miller, a well-known and beloved 43-year-old American soap opera star who became famous for his extended appearances in "The Young and the Restless" and "General Hospital," for whose work in the first series he won three Emmy Awards, passed away. Although Miller's official cause of death has not been made public, upon publication the actor's spokesperson acknowledged that the deceased had struggled with bipolar disorder (manic depression), and it was believed that Miller had taken his own life.

Tonight (Monday through Tuesday), in a heartbreaking statement published in the soap opera magazine Soap Opera Digest, Patricia Miller, Billy's mother, confirmed the assessments. "I would like to personally thank fans and close friends for the tremendous amounts of love, prayers and condolences sent to me and my family following the shocking death of my beautiful son - Billy Miller," the mother wrote.
"Over the years, he waged a long and courageous battle against bipolar depression, and did his best to control the disease. He loved his family, friends and fans, but in the end the disease won the battle and he sacrificed his life. The other (unofficial) causes of death that are published (online) are incorrect. I'd like them to be, but they're just not. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to cope with the loss. I have nothing more to say, thank you for the love and support," concluded the devastated mother.

Billy Miller's breakthrough into the soap opera world occurred in 2007, when he played Richie Novak in All My Children. In 2008, he moved on to play Billy Abbott in The Young and the Restless. From 2014 to 2019, he portrayed twins Jason Morgan and Drew Kane in General Hospital (first Jason and then Drew). Other series in which Miller has made guest appearances include Ray Donovan, Suits, Castle and others.
