"It is impossible to ignore those who disseminate Jewish identity," said an editorial in the most important and widely read newspaper in the ultra-Orthodox public, "they are the wrong, the evil of Israel, they are the disruptors. We do not bring the Torah closer to people and do not serve it in seductive cellophane at the expense of essence. Masses of Jews who otherwise won't pray, they won't come to synagogue – and this is their way of expressing the Jewish spark in them."

Gafni's newspaper also criticized the demonstrators who "blew up" the prayer in Dizengoff: "How much sour and bitter wickedness did it take on the secular side of the coin to oppose the prayer that many secularists want."

Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai responded to the riots at Yom Kippur prayers in public places, saying: "I will not allow the character of the city to be changed. In Tel Aviv-Yafo there is no place for gender separation and exclusion in the public sphere."

Huldai refused to send inspectors and police officers, "so as not to create unnecessary escalation and preserve the sanctity of the holiday." Huldai added: "When our leadership itself refrains from saying unequivocally that the High Court rulings must be upheld, it opens the door for extreme elements to take the law into their own hands."
