Tourism Minister Haim Katz and his entourage left for Riyadh on Tuesday to take part in a conference of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Katz is the first Israeli minister to head an official delegation in Saudi Arabia.
During the visit, which will last two days, Minister Haim Katz will participate in a number of events and professional discussions, and will hold meetings with his counterparts, with an emphasis on ministers from the Middle East.
The conference, with the participation of world tourism policy leaders, was held to mark International Tourism Day.
Minister of Tourism Haim Katz: "Tourism is a bridge between peoples. Partnerships on tourism have the potential to bring hearts together and flourish economically. I will work to create collaborations to promote tourism and Israel's foreign relations."
Over the past year, under the leadership of Tourism Minister Haim Katz, Israel has strengthened its position in the UN Tourism Organization and was recently elected to an official position in the organization for the first time, leading a task force to shape the organization's global tourism concept, alongside Spain.
