Highlights: The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) published a series of recommendations for Israel under the establishment of the contract with the American superpower. According to the recommendation, the contract will be limited to extreme and existential threats and confined to the Middle East. This morning, the Institute (INSS) published a series of recommendations for Israel under the establishment of the contract with the American superpower • According to the recommendation, the contract will be limited to extreme and existential threats and confined to the Middle East, and will strengthen in the long term the "special relationship" that Israel has with the United States

In the shadow of the emerging normalization: The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) published a recommendation to Israel on Wednesday morning to strive to establish a defense treaty with the United States. According to the Institute's recommendation, the contract will be limited to extreme and existential threats and confined to the Middle East, in light of the changing strategic circumstances and threats to the future of relations. The INSS added that Israel must strive to establish a defense treaty as part of formulating an orderly strategy vis-à-vis future challenges, especially a nuclear Iran, as well as the possibility of multilateral regional nuclearization.

The policy document notes that the defense treaty will reinforce Israel's "special relationship" with the United States, which is a central pillar of national security policy. Already, the future of relations is threatened by the cumulative negative impact of Israel's policy on the Palestinian issue and deep demographic-political trends in the United States.

Among other things, the defense treaty will make it easier for Israel to consolidate bipartisan support and the commitment of future administrations to Israel's security over time.

The policy document also notes that in order for Israel to preserve its freedom of action and not be required to fight America's global wars, the contents of the contract should be limited to existential and extreme threats, and only to the Middle East.

The idea of a defense agreement between the two countries is promoted by Netanyahu's close confidant, Ron Dermer, who serves as minister of strategic affairs.

Dermer began promoting the initiative for a "limited mutual defense agreement" since he served as Israel's ambassador to Washington for most of the previous decade. Dermer believes that such an agreement would complete the defense envelope of the country and send a deterrent message to its enemies that anyone who harms it risks a direct confrontation with the United States.
