Following the investigation into the assassination incident in Ashkelon earlier today (Sunday), in which a 22-year-old man known to the police was pronounced dead on criminal grounds, an assessment was conducted headed by Southern District Commander Amir Cohen.
In the afternoon, a report was received about a shooting incident on Olei Gallows Street in Ashkelon. Police and forensic investigators arrived at the scene. A man was identified at the scene with a fatally wounded gunshot wound, MDA paramedics performed CPR on him, and Barzilai Medical Center pronounced him dead.

Police investigators began collecting findings at the scene alongside taking testimonies, and detained two people involved in the case. In an assessment of the situation, headed by Southern District Commander Amir Cohen and with the participation of other senior officials, the district commander decided to assign the investigation to the central unit in Lachish.
As part of the investigation, all directions of investigation are examined, in addition to the district commander's directive to use all means to reach those involved.
