Last August, a rockslide unexpectedly struck two families hiking in Nahal David, claiming the life of 8-year-old Yehuda Levy and injuring six others who were evacuated to Soroka, Sheba and Hadassah Mount Scopus hospitals for treatment. The young boy is a resident of Hemdat in the Jordan Valley, and his mother and sister were among those injured in the disaster.

The new trails that will be opened to the public: The Tzafit Trail Ma'ale Ein Gedi and Ma'ale Yishai. Nahal David from the first waterfall to the dry canyon.

The trails that open at Nahal David join the trails that have already opened in the reserve: Section A - from the entrance to Nahal David to the first waterfall. Section B - from Tel Goren to Ein Gedi Spring. The ancient synagogue is open.
